The public bar is the main focal point for the hotel and indeed the local community too. Overlooking the harbour and the jetty, many have commented on its "million dollar views".

Guests enjoy a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There are six local brews on tap, specialising in Macs beers and the ever popular Speights. There are over 50 wines to choose from including 14 by the glass. Many of our wines are selected on local regionality criteria so you will find many wines from the Peninsula and Waipara areas.  In keeping with the local theme our espresso coffee utilises coffee beans roasted by the Lyttelton Coffee Company.

Bar facilities include a pool table, juke box, table soccer machine, dart board and video games for the kids. We also have a widescreen plasma TV featuring Sky sports and other events so you can catch up  with all the Super 14, All Blacks and Black Caps games, and maybe the netball too.

The main bar area now features a comprehensive heating and cooling system. However, in winter you are likely to be greeted by a roaring open fire which is sadly becoming a rarity in Canterbury.
